# Flat White Index

> Sydney's flat white price survey. AI voice agent calling every cafe to find the real cost of a flat white.

- Price range: $3.80 to $7.00+ depending on suburb and cafe
- Data collection method: Direct AI voice agent phone calls to each cafe
- Update frequency: Continuously as calls complete
- Coverage: 40+ Sydney suburbs, expanding to Melbourne

## Methodology

Every price is collected by direct phone contact with the cafe. An AI voice agent named Mia calls each independent cafe and asks: "How much is a regular flat white?" Prices are not scraped from menus or based on user reports. Chain cafes (Starbucks, Gloria Jean's, etc.) are excluded — only independent cafes are surveyed.

Sample sizes are shown for every suburb. Calls are made during business hours (9am–4pm AEST, weekdays).

## What We Exclude

Chain and franchise cafes: Starbucks, McCafe, Gloria Jean's, Hudson's, The Coffee Club, and others. Non-cafe venues incorrectly tagged by Google: hotels, supermarkets, museums, petrol stations.
